石油交易商擱置儲油計劃

據(jù)路透社4月7日報道,業(yè)內(nèi)消息人士周二表示,盡管市場供應(yīng)過剩,但布倫特原油期貨價格較未來幾個月大幅上漲,這使得石油儲存變得很不經(jīng)濟,因此,交易商們本周暫緩了石油存儲計劃。

自上周五以來,由于市場預(yù)期沙特和俄羅斯可能達成減產(chǎn)和提價協(xié)議,近月布倫特原油LCOc1價格已大幅上漲。導(dǎo)致與現(xiàn)貨市場日益脫節(jié),在前幾個月需求銳減后,交易員正疲于處理未售出的現(xiàn)貨供應(yīng)。

新加坡船舶經(jīng)紀商BRS Baxi董事總經(jīng)理阿肖克·夏爾馬(Ashok Sharma)表示:“需求已經(jīng)崩潰,供應(yīng)正在激增。市場與供需基本面完全脫節(jié)?!?/span>

布倫特原油期貨LCOc1-LCOc7在3月底觸及每桶13.45美元的歷史低點后,周二,1月和6月的期貨價差大幅收窄至每桶5美元。

在期貨溢價市場,現(xiàn)貨價格低于未來幾個月的價格,這促使交易商在之后以更高的價格出售石油。

消息人士稱,目前的價差不足以支付一艘非常大型的油輪(VLCC)的運費。該船最近租賃6個月的價格為6.9萬美元,即每天約1美元/桶。

亞洲的原油供應(yīng)已開始增加。世界各地的貿(mào)易商們正向亞洲運送更多的原油。

Oil storage uneconomical despite hefty supplies as Brent futures strengthen

Traders seeking to store oil have put their plans on hold this week after prompt Brent crude futures surged against future months and made storage uneconomical, despite overwhelming supplies in the market, industry sources said on Tuesday.

Front-month Brent crude prices LCOc1 have jumped since Friday on expectations that Saudi Arabia and Russia may strike a deal to cut output and support prices. [O/R]

That has created a growing disconnect with physical markets where traders are struggling with unsold supplies from previous months after the coronavirus pandemic destroyed demand.

“Demand has collapsed and supply is gushing,” said Ashok Sharma, managing director of shipbroker BRS Baxi in Singapore. “The market is totally disconnected from supply and demand fundamentals.”

The contango spread between the first and sixth month Brent crude futures LCOc1-LCOc7 narrowed sharply to $5 a barrel on Tuesday, after hitting an all-time low of $13.45 a barrel at the end of March.

Prompt prices are lower than those in future months in a contango market, encouraging traders to sell oil later at higher prices.

However, the current spread is insufficient to cover freight costs for a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) which was most recently chartered at $69,000 per day for six months, or about $1 a barrel daily, one of the sources said.

Crude supplies have started building in Asia since February. Since then, a decline in demand accelerated with more countries locking down globally, while traders from all over the world have shipped more crude to Asia , a rare spot where demand is recovering.
